CHALLENGE
Google Pay allows users to see their recurring payments under Subscription Fee, but it doesn’t provide any real management options like canceling, modifying, or renewing subscriptions.
goal
Enhance Google Pay’s existing subscription feature by enabling users to fully manage their subscriptions—view, modify, cancel, and renew—all within the app.

Google Pay's subscription feature is hard to find and understand. It’s tucked away deep in the app with unclear plan details, leaving users confused and unaware of its benefits.

Redesigned solution
The new design brings subscription management into focus. With a prominent placement and clear plan details, users can easily view and manage their subscriptions directly in the app, making the experience simple and intuitive.

our process
To explore the best direction, I immersed myself in Google Pay’s subscription management feature—examining its hidden placement and vague details—and looked at the issue from a broader product perspective. This deep dive helped me identify actionable design concepts that directly address user pain points and pave the way for a more intuitive experience.
We began by diving deep into user behavior—conducting surveys and interviews with a diverse range of users to understand how they currently use Google Pay and where the friction points lie. From these discussions, we distilled our insights into four clear user personas, each highlighting unique challenges with the subscription feature.
From insights into action
Armed with our research and four distinct personas, we identified the core issues: the subscription feature was hidden, and its details were unclear. This insight sparked our design journey, where we focused on streamlining navigation, enhancing visibility, and clarifying plan information. The result is a design that transforms a fragmented experience into one that's intuitive and empowering, allowing every user to manage their subscriptions with ease.

The redesigned experience turns subscription management into a breeze. Now, the feature is front and center, allowing one-tap access to detailed plan info and real-time status updates. Integrated controls let users manage, cancel, or renew subscriptions directly within the app—no extra steps required. This intuitive design cuts down on friction, makes the feature easy to find, and empowers users to take control.
